Our Story

WHO WE ARE

We are driven by a passion to support organisations to achieve the best outcomes for the children, young people and families they support.

The roots of Meadows Psychology Service developed from our expertise in supporting children’s residential homes, embedding evidence based, trauma informed models of care and developing psychologically informed services. We have built on this experience over the years and grown to support a range of sectors to develop their therapeutic practice. We want to share our specialist knowledge of trauma informed therapeutic care, grounded in our understanding of attachment and developmental trauma to providers who want to develop specialist psychologically informed services.

We have developed a dedicated team who are passionate about supporting children and young people who have lived through adversity and are experiencing difficulties in their emotional health and wellbeing. We truly believe that to do this in the most effective way we need to take a holistic approach and support and develop those people closest to the child to ensure they are caring for them in a therapeutic way.

Our Approach

Meadows Psychology Service aims to support the development of trauma informed systems and practice, through the following approaches

Building Collaboration

We work in a relational way. We place significant importance on getting to know you and your systems. Only through understanding your systems will we be able to work together to collaborate on goals to support the development of your service. We aim to empower systems to grow and develop.

Holding Space

We recognise that you, your employees, and carers work with some of the most vulnerable children, young people and families, and that this work can be extremely emotionally demanding. We will hold a containing space for you, your teams to reflect on the work you do and develop skills in reflective practice. Reflective practice is a key skill in our service offer to support the development of resilience, empathy and emotional connection to children who have experienced trauma. This will also support the development of understanding of the self.

Creation and Innovation

We purposely have developed a multi-disciplinary team of psychological professionals, expert in supporting systems to embed trauma informed practice. We pride ourselves on delivering creative and innovative solutions, avoiding a “one size fits all” approach. Our services are bespoke and are grounded in psychological theory, we are a responsive service so once you start working with us we will endeavour to flex to support your changing needs, recognising that no service, family or indeed child is ever static…

Our Values

Meadows Psychology Service embody the following values in our work

Empowering

We notice, celebrate, and magnify what is working. As well as noticing and reflecting on our own or others resources, skills, strengths and positive qualities.

Inclusive

We are curious and reflective about our own and others social, cultural, institutional experiences and how these shape our assumptions, interpretations and beliefs. We encourage our teams to do the same, championing an environment where people feel safe to bring their authentic selves to the work we do together.

Compassionate

We are compassionate and seek to understand, care, and make meaning of individual and team experiences.

Integrative

We work to integrate an array of knowledge and skills in relational trauma into therapeutic work, staff training, consultation, language, reflective spaces and leadership style.

Responsive and Adaptive

We recognise the importance of being responsive to both trauma and the needs of the individuals and teams.
